Want to jump into the refreshing water of Millstätter See?
Use our private beach with lounge chairs and sun umbrellas for free – it’s only 50m from the house. The lake not only offers opportunities to sail, surf, scuba dive, and fish, but also to go on boat trips. Activities such as cycling, hiking, horseback riding, golf, and tennis are also possible nearby. The center of Spittal, which offers numerous shopping opportunities, is only a 10-minute drive away.

Villa

The villa is one of the oldest buildings of its kind in Millstatt (built ca. 1880)

The Imperial and Royal Notary, Oskar Ritter von Luschan, bought the villa from the Italian timber merchant, Ofenheimer, and named it after his wife Margarethe. Shortly after, the villa welcomed notable personalities like one of the sons of British Natural Scientist, Charles Darwin, as well as the Austrian Physicist and Nobel Prize Winner, Erwin Schrödinger.

Due to his social engagement, Oskar Ritter von Luschan was named an honorary citizen of Millstatt in 1900.

Private Beach

The beach offers a lawn with a sandpit, swings, table tennis, shower, changing rooms and toilet. Parasols and deckchairs can be used free of charge, inflatable boats and air mattresses brought can be deposited in the boathouse. Very sporty people dive into the lake before breakfast in order to really enjoy breakfast afterwards. Nothing is nicer than letting your soul dangle in the shade of the apple tree, gazing at the lake sparkling in the sun and ending the day in the Salettl am See – maybe with a barbecue.
